General Description: Montecito Hot Springs is an old abandoned hot springs resort from the 1800's located in the San Padres Forest in the coastal mountains of California. Today the Land Trust for Santa Barbara County manages the property and hikers make the trek up the canyon to view the stone ruins and exotic plantings, the only remnants of the hot springs resorts. It is a very natural hot springs. The locals created rock walled cascading pools
Location: From Santa Barbara it is 5 miles or 15 minute drive to the hot springs trailhead.
Directions: From Santa Barbara, California take US-101 S to Hot Springs Rd in Montecito 7 min (3.4 mi) Continue on Hot Springs Rd. Drive to E Mountain Dr 4 min (1.6 mi)
Accessibility: Montecito Hot Springs is accessible. It is an easy hike. Hike from Hot Springs Trailhead.
Hot Springs: Montecito Hot Springs is the ruins of an old resort from the 1800's. The source comes out at 112 degrees. There are 7 rock walled pools that cascade down the canyon.
Hot Spring Tips: The area became part of Los Padres National Forest in 2013 after a fund drive by the Land Trust for Santa Barbara County. Bring enough water for the hike. No camping is allowed. This gets alot of foot traffic. Clothing is optional. The locals get nude. Bring your hiking shoes. Please don't bring your dogs. This place get busy.
