General Description: Black Rock Hot Springs is a remote and free to the public geothermal desert oasis. Black Rock has two geothermal lagoons located off road the road in Black Rock Desert–High Rock Canyon Emigrant Trails National Conservation Area in the along the Applegate Trail in the Nevada desert. Clothing is optional.
Location: From Gerlach, Nevada it is 80 miles or four hours to drive to the hots springs.
Directions: From Gerlach, Nevada take County Rd 34 N to Soldier Meadows Rd in Pershing County 15 min (12.8 mi) Continue on Soldier Meadows Rd to your destination in Humboldt County 3 h 40 min (68.0 mi)
Accessibility: Black Rock Hot Springs is hard to access. It requires you to drive off road. Wet weather conditions greatly affect accessibility. Check road conditions. The most direct way is across the playa of the Black Rock Desert. A 4X4 is highly recommended.
Hot Springs: Black Rock Hot Springs is two connected hot spring lagoons. The source is the smaller of the geothermal pools Do not enter the source. The larger lagoon to soak has a wooden dock is shallow and mud bottomed. The temperature depends on the place in the geothermal pool but is about 105 degrees. The temperature may vary in the season.
Hot Spring Tips: Black Rock Hot Springs is a free for public access. Clothing is optional. Friends of the Black Rock Desert office is in Gerlach for the latest info on desert and playa and road conditions. Black Rock can only be reached a few months of the year. This is a dog friendly hot springs. No dogs in hot springs. Camping is available in the black desert. Do not camp within 500 feet of the hot springs. This hot springs is remote. Have enough supplies. Pack in what take to the hot springs.
